The 12 Days of Derby Celebration...only at The Bard's Town

                            Picture
Let's face it: Derby is the greatest holiday of the year.  It deserves to be celebrated on par with all of the rest of the big holiday seasons.  At The Bard's Town, we're doing our part with The 12 Days of Derby Celebration, filled with Derby holiday cheer, a smorgasbord of events, a Derby tree, and even Derby stockings.

                            Tuesday, April 26: Funny Cide
The "Opening Ceremonies" begin Tuesday evening at 7 PM with the lighting of the Derby Tree and the sale of the first "Derby stocking"--small paper donation stockings whose proceeds will go to benefit the 501c3 Bard's Town Theatre.  The Bard will offer Bourbon specials all night, complimented by cigars from local shop owner J. Shepherd.  The evening continues with the first round of the "1st Annual Funny Cide Comedy Contest."  Bourbon specials all night to honor Kentucky great Funny Cide.

                            Wednesday, April 27: Super Saver
On the 2nd day of Derby, comedian and actor De Blenniss presents his hit one-man show, "Just Say Know," with special guest appearances by comedians Sean Smith and Mark Parris.  The Bard honors 2010 winner Super Saver with super savings on Gentleman Jack bourbon.

                            Thursday, April 28: Silver Charm
On the 3rd day of Derby, The Bard's Town shows its Silver Charm with Mike Heath's tribute to Johnny Cash at 8 PM, and Joey Sandals, the NY piano man, at 9 PM. 1800 Silver specials all night.

Friday, April 29: Go for Gin
On the 4th Day, The Bard's Town presents two favorites: Project Improv at 8 PM, and The Best of the Bottom, Vol 3, at 11.  We Go for Gin on Fridays, so Gin and Tonic specials shall be had all night.

                            Saturday, April 30: War Admiral
On the 5th Day, The Bard honors War Admiral with "The Drunk and Sailor Pirate Show" at 8 PM.  With the War Admiral on board, The Bard will feature a ridiculous special on Blackheart Spiced Rum.   After the pirate, The Bard presents his monthly Beer Pong tournament at the bar at midnight.

                            Sunday, May 1: Sunday Silence
On the 6th Day, The Bard breaks up the Sunday Silence by bringing the sweet sounds of Bluegrass with The Bluegrass Messengers at 6 PM.  Bloody Mary specials all night.

                            Monday, May 2: Bubbling Over
On the 7th Day, The Bard's Town is "Bubbling Over" as it's sister act, The Bard's Town Theatre, holds its opening gala.

                            Tuesday, May 3: Whiskery
On the 8th Day, The Bard honors 1927 Derby winner Whiskery with another night of Bourbon love during the entirety of the finals of "1st Annual Funny Cide Comedy Contest."  Maker's Mark will be on hand to demonstrate how to make the PERFECT Mint Julep.

Wednesday, May 4: Strike the Gold
On the 9th Day, The Bard Strikes the Gold of the general ridiculousness of Derby.   The Bard begins with Raanan Hershberg's "Young, Dumb, and Full of Comedy Show" at 9 PM.  Then it's The Great Creamboat Race--grown ups teams of two, tricycles, beer, and whip cream pies.To honor Strike the Gold, The Bard will run specials on Cuervo Gold all night.

Thursday, May 5: Spend a Buck
On the 10th Day, The Bard's Town hosts the 21st annual WING DING.  Budweiser will be out in full force, and the Bard will be churning out deliciously naughty Buffalo and Teriyaki wings.  Adam and Jim perform at 8 PM, and The Bard honors Spend a Buck with $1 shots on the ice luge.  (Yes, Derby time calls for an ice luge).

Friday, May 6: Lil E Tee
On the 11th Day, The Bard's Town takes the ridiculousness of Derby celebration to new heights, hosting the 1st annual "Stable Barn Party."  With the Barnstable party mere blocks away, The Bard's Town decided to make everyone stars.  Halloween meets Derby at the Stable Barn Party, as partygoers get decked out as their favorite celebrities.  The Bard honors Lil E Tee with specials on his "Bard-version" of the Oaks Lilly.

                            Saturday, May 7: Aristides
On the 12th Day, the greatest day of the year, The Bard honors Aristides.  And only one drink is proper for the original Derby champ: the original Mint Julep.  In addition to some of the best post-Derby food around, The Bard closes up Derby celebration properly with one of the finest Bluegrass bands in the country: Chicago's own The Henhouse Prowlers.
