FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Louisville live theatre, comedy
(1) Are you a dinner theatre?

No.  We're created in the mold of the London "Pub Theatres."  In fact, we NEVER serve food in our theatre during theatrical shows (although we do often offer food during comedy, improv shows).

(2) So you're not a "Dinner Theatre"... do you have food?

Yes, we have a restaurant that stands alone.  While we love it when folks come to see events, we also have numerous folks who simply come see us to dine on some delicious food, have a few drinks, and/or watch some of their favorite games on our large TVs.

(3) What kind of food is it?

Click on our "menu" tab above to see a copy of our menu.  While we don't pretend to be "uppity" in our food creation, we take pride in making just about everything from scratch--from our dressings to our sauces, crab cakes to Sauerkraut, and so on.

(4) So you have a theatre and a restaurant...do you serve alcohol?

Yes, if you are of legal age, of course.  The Bard has a full bar, stocked with all sorts of refreshing beers, wines, and spirits.

(5) That's a lot of stuff.  How many different areas are there?

We have a main restaurant, a lounge with a small stage that hosts smaller bands, comedians, poetry, and such, and then a spacious theatre on the 2nd floor that is home to The Bard's Town Theatre...as well as to many other theatre companies, Damaged Goods Improv, The Young Dumb and Full of Comedy Show, Prime Time Players, and many more.

(6) Restaurant, Theatre, Bar...how do you do it all?

We don't sleep.

(7) What is The Bard's Town really all about?

We took the word "play" used in the theatre world and brought it to life in everything we do here.  WE PLAY.  We have fun.  We have fun booking such disparate events as poetry readings and pirate sing-a-long shows.  We have fun creating cocktails and dishes.  What can we say?  We like to play...plus having fun distracts us from the fact that we desperately need sleep.

(8)  So you all have a lot of fun.  Will I have fun?

Our creator endowed us with certain inalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of good times.  Who is the Bard to argue with that?

(9) As Liz Lemon would say, "I want to go to there."  Where is this magical Bard's Town?

Corner of Bardstown Rd and Speed Avenue in the Highlands (across from The Body Art Emporium).  We're about half way between Douglass Loop and Eastern Parkway. Click on the "Directions" tab above for more.

(10) I want to stalk you even when I'm not at The Bard...are you on Facebook or Twitter?

Isn't everyone?  facebook.com/thebardstown and @thebardstown.  Stalk away.
